4th Anniversary!

Hey guys!

Today was just a really nice relaxed day spent with my favourite person.  My boyfriend and I celebrated our fourth year together today and it turned out to be a lovely day.  We had a lazy morning watching our favourite things on Netflix and generally just lounging around.  Spending time with him is always great and he puts a smile on my face every day.

My boyfriend got home from uni with a lovely surprise for me.  I hadn't asked for it and it was a total shock but I am so happy because I love Humans of New York on facebook.  If you haven't heard of it I highly recommend you go and check it out - it's really a work of art and what I have seen so far of the book has been amazing!

Later we decided to head out for dinner.  We didn't realise how late it had got though so we didn't have long at the restaurant in the end which was a bit annoying because we didn't have time for dessert!  It ended up we just bought some ingredients from the local shop and made some fab desserts at home.  I'll update more regarding our dinner on Friday.

All in all we've had a great day and have just enjoyed spending time with one another.  I hope you have all had fantastic days too!  What did you do today?

My Latest Wish List

Hey guys!

Today I am going to share with you some makeup items that I have been adding to my wish list.  A lot of the things I probably won't be able to afford for a while because as you all know I am planning to just buy one or two things per month but you never know I might feel like treating myself.

So lets just dive straight in!  The first thing I've got my eyes on is the well talked about NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation.  They have a little stall up in the city so I think I might head up and see what colour would suit my skin best.  I would prefer to just order online but I wouldn't want to spend all that money to get the wrong colour.

Next up is the NARS blush in orgasm.  I want to try a couple of the NARS blushes but when I was last in the shop this one really jumped out at me.  I figure if I try one and love it I can always go back and get more!  The same goes for most of the products here really - they're all sort of testers.

Moving on we have the nyx finishing sprays.  I can't decide if I want to try the Matte Finish or the Dewy Finish.  At the minute I think I'm leaning more towards the dewy finish.
I also want to try a couple of the nyx Jumbo Eye Pencils starting off with milk.  I really like a lot of these pencils but I want to try this one first and see if I like them.  I've heard a lot of good things about this product and on a plus side this brand is so much cheaper than the others!

Falling back into the more expensive brands I'm looking to try out some Stila products.  I have two here that I'm liking the sound of, the first being the Stay All Day Precision Glide Pencil for eyebrows.  I like that it is dual ended and looks like it would give a nice precise line.

And the last item in this post is the Stila Eyes are the Window Spirit Palette.  I really like the look of a lot of their palettes and I struggled to pick which one I would want to sample first - but after a lot of oohing and ahing I think I'm going to go for this one.

So that marks the end of my wish list for now but no doubt I'll be adding to this wish list daily!  Do you guys have any recommendations for me?  What is top on your wish list?

Super Quick and Easy Ravioli

Hey guys!

I hope you all had a great day today.  Unfortunately today marked the end of our gorgeous weather here in Scotland and we were back to the grey and damp that we are so used to.  I was working all day and when I finished I was in one of those moods where I just couldn't be bothered cooking so my mum had the great idea of making some ravioli!  Not only is it a great energy source it is quick and easy and makes for a delicious meal!

To make this recipe you will need to get yourself a packet of 'Goat's Cheese and Sun-Dried Tomato Ravioli' or a Ravioli of your choice.  I picked mine up from ASDA.  I think I am going to attempt to make my own ravioli in the future - but if you're feeling lazy like me just buy a pack!  You're also going to need some basil, olive oil, plum or cherry tomatos (about 12) and some salt and pepper.  That's it - that's all you need for this dish.

First off you're going to want to boil your pasta in some salted water.  Top mum tip:  Don't let the water boil while the pasta is in the pan - boil your water then take it off the heat to add pasta.  If you over boil your pasta it will burst open the little packages and ruin the filing.  The time it takes to cook is probably variable for different brands but this one here only took three minutes!!  While your pasta is cooking away you're going to want to cut your tomatos in half and tear up your basil.  Tearing your basil rather than chopping it is a good idea because tearing releases more flavour from the herb.

My pasta floated on the surface of the water with big air balloons in the centre but I think I over boiled mine as one of them burst (I learned the mum tip after I had cooked the pasta).  Once you think your pasta is done you need to drain it and then pop it back in the pan.  Add your chopped up tomatos and basil along with a generous glug of olive oil and some pepper to your taste then stir until the mix is evenly spread throughout the pasta.  You might be thinking that sounds a little strange and dry with no sauce but trust me it is absolutely amazing.  You really don't need a sauce and the olive oil works to keep the pasta moist and combine everything together.

My mum and I just had pasta on its own but I would suggest serving small portions with some sides like bread or olives.  It looks lovely on the plate, tastes amazing and only took three minutes!  It's the ideal dinner if you're in a hurry or just can't be bothered whipping up something fancy and if you ask me it looks like it took a lot longer than three minutes!

Let me know if you try this in the comments - I would love to see your pictures!  A special thanks has to go to my mum for holding up the background sheet for all of my pictures and for delivering some useful top tips along the way.   What is your favourite type of ravioli?

Trip to the Sea Side

Hey guys!

Today I went on a little trip to the sea side to visit my boyfriend.  He's been working a lot lately so I haven't been getting many chances to see him so when we do meet up we try and have the best time we can.

I grew up in the little town he lives in now and if there is one thing I could take away from there it's the ice cream!  When the weather is hot it seems that the whole town pours down to the beach - stopping off at a little cafe to pick up some of the best home made ice cream there is.  The little cafe has been there for as long as I can remember.  When I was little my gran used to take me and get me a '99' which was a vanilla ice cream cone with a cadbury's flake stuck in the top!  The thing about a '99' though is that it used to cost 99p - now it is well over £1!

Today I went for a crispy cone with vanilla (you absolutely cannot beat the vanilla!) and my boyfriend got a crispy cone dipped in chocolate and I think his flavour was caramel shortcake.

We sat on the front to eat them - persevering through the heat with the sun blazing on our faces.  I normally go for a tub of ice cream instead of a cone but today I decided I wanted to be all fancy and go all out.  Boy did I regret it!  As soon as it started melting I regretted my choice but it didn't just end there - as we were walking along the front towards his house I somehow managed to tip my melted ice cream completely down my front!  It was not a good look.  Luckily I had this pretty view to keep my mind off of the sticky mess.

The walk along to my boyfriends was lovely and one of the streets was lined with cherry blossoms that have all come into bloom.  I think we're in the middle of a heat wave hence our gorgeous weather and I think it has encouraged all the flowers to bloom a little early - I took some snaps to show you guys!

I love cherry blossoms they put a smile on my face every time I see them.  I hope you guys liked following along on this little part of my day today!

What's your favourite flavour of ice cream?

Teeny Tiny Urban Decay Haul!

Hey guys!

Okay so first off I can't even call this a haul but I am far too poor for real hauls so this is the closest we're going to get!  I don't even know how some of you girls and guys can afford to do hauls (I am very jealous) because everything is just so expensive - even drug store brands!  While I can't do hauls I do want to talk to you guys about the new makeup I buy so I have a proposal for you all.  Once a month I will do a post on the new makeup I have bought in the month - this will probably only consist of one or two pieces (the no money struggles are real) of 'high end' makeup and probably some of my regular drug store buys too.  I figure this way you guys can watch my makeup collection grow as I buy it.  I think this is the most realistic way for me to expand my collection - slow and steady one piece at a time.  I would love to hear any suggestions you guys would have for me to purchase next so please leave me comments!!

Today I have two pieces for you guys which my lovely boyfriend bought for me.  Originally I only wanted to get the eye shadow palette but the store was doing £10 off if I bought another beauty item and so I decided to go for one of their lipsticks!  Obviously I had to take advantage of this deal and I effectively got a £15.50 lipstick for just £5.50.

First off lets talk about the palette.  I already have the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette which I love so I knew I wanted to try out the original.  I've already started using it and honestly the colours are just amazing.  At first glance you might think the palettes are really similar and I suppose they are but there are just so many different looks you can achieve with the first palette when compared with the second.  The palettes come in at £38 each.

The first very obvious difference I noticed was the packaging.  The original comes in a very pretty design with a nice velvet material as opposed to the second palettes metal casing.  First impressions wise I think the original palette is far prettier on the eye but for actual usage the second is far more practical.  The original palette marks so easily and I think over time the gold lettering will eventually wear off.  So far I have held onto the box to try and keep it as fresh as possible.

When you open the palette up it is immediately different.  The mirror is very small (I much prefer naked 2's mirror) but overall I think it is a very pretty design.  I added an old picture of naked 2 in there so you guys can see the real difference in colours.  Personally I think I actually prefer the looks I get from the original palette but it might just be that 'new makeup' feel lingering.

This is my first 'high end' lipstick and I absolutely love it!  I'm so glad Urban Decay had their deal on because otherwise I would probably have not thought to pick one up.  Lets just talk about the packaging for a minute.  I freaking love the packaging it's so shiny and lovely and I actually really love the urban decay written down the side.  I like the touch of purple for the inner tubing too.

I went for the colour 'nude' and I feel like it is just such a lovely shade on me.  It glides on really easily and the colour is there straight away - you really don't need much product to get the results.  For me it gives a really nice natural look and it's just so lovely with so many different makeup looks.  I find that it is quite a moisturising lipstick too and that is something I was really worried about when I bought it.  I find a lot of lipsticks really dry out my lips and just leave them looking cracked and disgusting but this lipstick doesn't do that at all.  Couldn't be happier with it really!

There we have it - my teeny tiny haul!  I hope you guys liked this 'Makeup Monday' post.  Follow me for more updates throughout the week and make sure to leave me a little comment!

What is your favourite lipstick brand?

Spicy Mexican!

Hey guys!

The other day my boyfriend treated me to a lovely little day out in the city and I thought I would bring you guys along to have a little look at the food we ordered.  I let him take the lead and he took us to a funny little Mexican in Glasgow called Topolabamba.  It's quite a strange set up they have in there which is different to any other mexican I have been to.  There is a selection of small dishes and a couple of larger ones and you can pick and choose between the two - it's kind of like tapas but mexican style.

While we were trying to pick our food the waiter came over and offered us some nibbles and some water (thank the lord because everything was super spicy).  The nibbles came in the form of some tortilla chips and a salsa of your choice.  My boyfriend went for the medium salsa but even then it was super spicy.

I really loved how the water come out in this cute little jug!  If I ever see one like it in the shops I will definitely pick one up because it just looked so pretty on the table.

We decided to get three sides to share - salt and chilli pepper fries, jalapeño poppers and some mexican green rice.  I didn't manage to get a proper snap of the rice but it tasted really good!  It was citrusy goodness.  The jalapeños came in a bed of that same salsa and honestly eating those was like setting your mouth on fire.  I'm normally quite good with spice - but I had to have a good couple of glasses of water!

For the mains my boyfriend decided to get Tostadas which is like the crispy version of a taco.  He really enjoyed them and if I remember correctly he went for the shredded beef option.  If I wasn't a vegetarian I would have definitely stolen some!  I didn't manage to get a snap of his before he wired in so his is a bit of an action shot haha!  I decided to go for a char roasted vegetable burrito which was so delicious and it came with a really nice little dipping sauce.  All I know about the sauce is that it was green - I actually couldn't pin down the flavour, so if you know what it is let me know in the comments!

Overall the meal was really lovely and the atmosphere was great.  I really liked the lighting in there too - I don't know if we just caught it on a sunny day but it just had a really lovely feel.  We were seated super fast and the service was great.  The waiter was really friendly and the food came so fast - we were actually really surprised by how fast the food came.  If you are looking for a nice quick stop that isn't too fancy I would highly recommend it!

I hope you guys enjoyed this Food Friday.  I'm still using my iphone for my images so I hope the quality wasn't lacking too much.  What is your favourite mexican dish?

I got nominated!

Hey guys!

It's 'What's On Wednesday' and today I have something a little different for you guys!  I was recently nominated for the Liebster award by Accio Victoria and Ciara Rose who both have lovely blogs that you should head over and check out.

The rules go as follows:
1. Link back and thank the person who nominated you.
2. List 11 facts about yourself.
3. Answer the 11 questions given to you by the person who nominated you.
4. Nominate 5-11 blogs/bloggers who have 200 followers or less & give them 11 questions of your choice.
5. Notify your nominees & give them a link back to your post!

11 facts about me (these were harder to come up with than they should have been):
1.  I am nearly 21.
2.  I am Scottish.
3.  I have 4 pets - a cat, a bunny, a dog and a fish.
4.  I love online gaming.
5.  I have a baby brother.
6.  I have only recently started building on my 'designer' makeup collection.
7.  I have really long hair - I don't know what to do with it most of the time.
8.  I get mini panic attacks quite a lot.
9.  Half of my family lives on the other side of the world.
10.  I don't have tv in the traditional sense - only on my xbox and online.
11.  I love 'home' products.  Like my favourite aisles in the supermarket are in the home section.

I was obviously nominated by two lovely ladies so I will pick and choose the questions I would like to answer from each of them.

1.  Who are your top five favourite bloggers?
My top five favourite bloggers in no particular order are Zoella, Anna Saccone-Joly, Sprinkle of Glitter, VelvetGh0st and theycallmeredhead.

2.  Who is your celebrity role model/fashion icon?
I think it would probably be Zoe Sugg - I don't know if she counts as a real celebrity but I would say she does.  I think she is just so lovely and she puts a smile on my face every day - I admire that.

3.  Why did you decide to start blogging?
I don't really know why I did.  I just felt drawn to it like it was something I had to try out for myself and so far I love it.  I like sharing things with you guys and I think my blog is the perfect platform to do so.

4.  What is your favourite season?
My favourite season would have to be Autumn.  I really like autumn colours and I like the cold crisp air and the fashion and just everything.  Autumn suits me well and I feel the most comfortable around Autumn I think - it would be Winter if it didn't rain so much!

5.  What is one item of makeup that you could not live without?
For me it would probably be my mascara.  I mean I feel like I need all my makeup when I go out but if I could only pick one item out of everything I think it would be mascara.  I have pretty stubby eyelashes and when I put mascara on it seems to just brighten up my whole face - so yeah!

6.  Where is your favourite place to eat?
Absolutely without a doubt at home haha!  I really hate eating in front of people and I feel like when I eat in public people could be watching me and I have to eat 'properly'.  Just me in the house by myself? Great!  I love just sitting all relaxed with a plate of food and some netflix - no cares in the world haha!  (My favourite food type is Italian though).

7.  Heels or flats?
On everyone else - heels.  On myself definitely flats.  I wish wish wish I could pull off a pair of heels but unfortunately I can't walk in them to save my life.  I used to try and fall a lot and now I just save myself the public humiliation.  On a night out I will occasionally put on a pair of wedges but even then I teeter about like a fool.

8.  What is your favourite TV series?
Game of Thrones.  Love it.  If you don't watch it I seriously suggest you start.

9.  If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would you eat?
It's a tie between pasta or potatoes.  So healthy.  I have seen a good answer to this before though which was salad because salad can be anything - potato salad, tomato salad, pasta salad... it goes on.

10.  If you could live in any fantasy world where would you live?
Probably the world in the avatar movie but before the humans come along and ruin everything.

11.  What is your favourite film and why?
This is possibly the hardest question because there are way too many and I just love films.  Probably going to go with Black Beauty because I loved it as a kid and I still love it now.  Crying begins at the opening scene and doesn't end until the end credits.  Seriously.  I cry at the start when he is happy just because I know that he is going to get sad.  It's a real cry fest.

My nominees:
3.  CosySocks

Here are my 11 questions for you!

1.  Where did your blog inspiration come from?
2.  How long have you been blogging for?
3.  What is your favourite food?
4.  Where is your favourite place to visit?
5.  What is your favourite book?
6.  What is your favourite TV show?
7.  What is your favourite brand of makeup?
8.  What is more important to you - hair or makeup?
9.  If you could only grab one item from your room before leaving it forever what would it be?
10.  If you had to pick between a big night out or a cosy night in what would you pick?
11.  What is your dream job?

Thank you all for reading this post - it was actually a lot harder than I thought it was going to be!  If any of you lovely nominees do this leave me a comment and I'll hop over and check out your post!

New Nail Polish

Hey guys!

Today is Makeup Monday and although technically not makeup I do have a shiny new post for you all!  Slight disclaimer here - though titled 'Makeup Monday', Monday may also include hair and beauty topics.

First off I'm going to start by saying I'm not a big magazine person and I never really have been.  I just don't buy them that often but yesterday as I was browsing the aisles of the local co-op I stumbled across the latest issue of Cosmo.  While the "thought provoking" titles ('How normal is your sex drive?'  'Married men will break your heart' and 'My naked photos were stolen' to name but a few) were fabulously bold pink they were not in fact the reason I picked up the magazine.  You might have guessed it but attached to the cover was a little pink nail polish.  The magazine boasted that it would normally have cost me £12 but here it was free with a £3.80 magazine.  I was sold.

As you can see it has a pretty ordinary though pretty nail polish design.  It is by New Cid Cosmetics who I had never previously heard of but I looked them up and they have a pretty wide range of other products as well as some other pretty nail polish colours.  The colour is a little different in real life it's more of a pink based red than an orange based red but on the nail it is quite similar to the above picture.

This next picture I took considerably later after the sun had gone down and I purposefully didn't edit the colouring for this picture so apologies for the poor image but I wanted to show how it looked on the nail when I eventually applied it.  Ps.  I am the worlds worst nail artist haha!

I have to say I was actually really impressed with this nail polish.  I didn't do any nail prep nor did I cover it with a clear coating afterwards.  I used one coat of polish and that's it.  The colour went on really nicely and the consistency was nice and smooth - the brush didn't stick at all.  This nail polish dries really fast too - definitely before 60 seconds have passed.  Normally I find that (even the fast driers) polish though dry will still mark and scratch within the first maybe thirty minutes to an hour of applying.  I feel like I have to hover around and not really use my hands for fear of ruining the finish.  This nail polish didn't leave me feeling that way at all.  I don't know if I was being more relaxed about it because I don't actually have an occasion to wear these nails to and I'm really not that bothered if they get marked but I closed the lid of my laptop on them literally about 20 seconds after they had dried and they didn't even get a scuff!  This is after only one coat and no top coat!  I was so impressed so I tried scraping one nail on another (because closing a the lap top on them wasn't enough proof)  and it still didn't budge!  Seriously I can't get over the durability this polish has shown so far!  I'll probably update you guys with the length of wear I get out of it on next Monday's post.

Overall I really like this nail polish and I think if you bought it at £12 it would be worth the money.  I like this colour and it will be nice going into spring but I think I would prefer a different colour if I had the choice but that is just personal preference.  For any of you interested I didn't really think much of the magazine.  The headings were made to sound far more dramatic than the content they offered.  I hope you enjoyed this post - follow for more beauty updates next week!

Have any of you guys tired this polish?  What did you think of it?

Home Made Tomato Soup

Hey guys!

We have made our way round to a 'Food Friday' which is quite self explanatory.  Every Friday I will post a food related post for you guys.  My topics are quite loose so this section could really vary in content.  As long as it is food related it will happily fit in my 'Food Friday' section.  Food might seem a bit of a strange choice to pair with 'Makeup Mondays' but as you all know - this is a blog about the things I love most and honestly food is my life.  I think about food all the time and I think it should feature on my little corner of the internet.

Today I tried to make a home made tomato soup.  I scrounged through our cupboards and we had all the ingredients so I thought why not give it a bash?

I found the recipe in this cook book my mum bought me for my eighteenth birthday.  I'll include pictures of the actual recipe at the end of this post for any of you that would like to try it yourself.  The little rabbit there is a paper weight which will feature throughout this post - helping me hold open pages and just looking pretty cute.

This recipe actually didn't take many ingredients at all which I was quite pleased with when I gathered them all up.  I think the tomatoes are supposed to be whole and I was supposed to then chop them up but I don't have any and I figured chopped tomatoes would do just as well.  I was also only making half the recipe suggested because I was making a serving for just me (I still have some left over) and this recipe makes enough for four.

Towards the final stages the recipe has you strain the mixture to remove the tomato skins and seeds then it tells you to add the basil and a few other things.  I did as instructed but personally I would have added the basil before because I think the soup looks nice at this stage but with pieces of basil floating around it isn't quite as appealing.  I also found that my liquid was very watery compared to the picture in the book and I think if I were to have it again I would perhaps blend the entire mixture rather than strain it so that it would retain some of that thickness from the pulp.

Click the above pics to enlarge them.

The final bowl of soup actually tasted pretty good - perhaps a little acidic for my tastes and I would maybe add in a splash of cream to cancel that out - but over all it went down well.  I hope you guys liked this post!  If you did leave a comment and possibly follow for more from me next week!

What's your favourite recipe to make?

Blog Post Disaster!

Hey guys!

I hope you have all had a lovely day!  The sun was shining here in Scotland and for once it was actually quite warm!  Today is a 'What's On Wednesday' which basically means I get to talk to you guys about whatever takes my fancy.  It's sort of like a get out of jail free card because there are no boundaries here.  Well, so I thought!  It turns out that leaving myself a 'free' day is actually quite a difficult spot to fill - there are so many options and possibilities that my mind scrambled around for a few days and eventually ran up dry.  I know, I hear you guys - but you only just started - this is your first What's On Wednesday ever!  I think that's what made it so hard.

So anyway - fast forward a bit and I end up in a lovely sea side neighbouring town and suddenly an idea struck me.  Why don't I take pictures of the pretty sea side view and tell everyone about my lovely day out?  Sounds simple right?  Wrong.  So there I was snapping away (slightly embarrassed by people watching me do so) and soon after I popped myself on the train quite pleased with myself.

Fast forward about seven hours later and I have just sat down to edit these 'lovely' photos that I took.  But wait - my iphone decided that actually all of my pictures would be blurry, very poor quality and lack any real substance.  Lesson to self - don't leave blog editing until ten o'clock at night to then realise you have no content and pretty much - no blog post.

So that leaves us here - me sitting typing while trying to think of something lovely to post... I suppose I better do better next Wednesday.  Have a picture of my cat looking cute in the background.  I took this picture the other day but I'm going to use it now and pretend I just took it - see what I did there?  Genius.

Did you guys do anything today?  I hope your day went better than mine!

Travel Makeup

Hey guys!

Today is my first 'Makeup Monday' and really my first post!  I still haven't got an SD card for my camera because they're quite pricey and I am unfortunately quite poor this month - so we'll just have to wait for that!  But that could be a whole month away and I just can't wait that long so I've taken some snaps with my iphone.  Hopefully the quality is okay for you guys!

Before we get started I just want to say that I am a total beginner when it comes to makeup but it is something I love and that's why I wanted to include makeup on my blog.  I'll probably learn a lot more about makeup from you guys - and I think that's great!

So lets get started!  Today I'm heading off to my boyfriends family home and that means packing a travel bag.  I would go into everything that I'm taking but I think I'll save that for another post some day.  For now we'll be looking at the essential makeup items I like to take with me when I'm in a rush and don't have much time to think about what I'm packing.

This is my little makeup bag that I take whenever I am going visiting someone.  I think it was originally my boyfriends but I stole it because it's a good size and zips up to keep everything safe!

In there I keep this little selection (except the wipes they were just there to hold everything up - but I take them with me too in my big bag!).  Here I have my products that I use everyday without fail.  As you can see they are well used and it's really about time I bought some more!  Going across the back row and then into the products at the front I have my bronzer, foundation, concealer, mascara, lipstick, powder, blusher and gel eyeliner.  I would normally have a lip liner in there but mine ran out the other day.  I'll leave details on all the products featured at the end of this post.

Moving on we have my little collection of brushes - I bought them all at the same time and they came with that neat little travel case.  I really like that travel case because it keeps my brushes safe on the move and I always know where to find them - there's no digging around in my bag full of makeup to get them.  My bag is usually full with a lot more than shown above - but I don't take everything with me on my travels.

My trusty naked pallet comes with me everywhere.  It's so handy to just throw in my big bag and there are so many colours that really you can create a lot of different looks.  I suppose I should really have a smaller pallet for my travels but for now this one does me fine - it's totally not because I can't afford any new ones...  haha!  So overall that is what I take with me on my travels.

As a side note I don't know why I have so many Rimmel products - I didn't collect them on purpose haha!  I hope you found this interesting!  Please leave a comment and follow if you'd like to see more from me!

What products do you take with you when you go travelling?
